Japanese, Thailand and Taiwan experts engaged in casting technical exchange seminar on carbon reduction

Experts from Japan, Thailand, and Taiwan gathered together to participate in a seminar on the latest casting technology trends. On the next day, the experts went to WKPT for a corporate visit and provided valuable suggestions on casting process development.
On March 12, WKPT participated in the "Carbon Reduction & AI - Latest Casting Technology Trends" seminar hosted by the Green Sand Casting Association and co-organized by the Taiwan Foundry Society, and conducted technical exchanges with experts from Japan and Thailand.

The theme of this seminar discusses how the latest casting technology can help reducing carbon emissions. Dr. Masayuki Itamura, former professor of Tohoku University in Japan, conducted an in-depth discussion on the development, characteristics and future trends of aluminum alloy semi-solid die-casting technology. Dr. Haruki Ito, President of I2C Technology Co., Ltd., talked about the advantages and future development directions of cast iron metal molding technology. In addition, Dr. Perakit Viriyarattanasak from Thailand’s National Metal Materials Technology Center explained the current status and development direction of Thailand’s casting technology.

On the day after the seminar, WKPT was honored to invite the experts to visit its factory and take the opportunity to introduce the company's metal machining business and processes. During the interaction, WKPT received valuable suggestions from the experts which were benefit to the company's process development.

Under the trend of environmental protection and carbon reduction, the application of metal components is developing towards lightweight. Casting technology has also evolved from the traditional sand mold casting, to die casting, vacuum die casting and semi-solid die casting, yet micro casting and gigacasting technology using high strength and high ductility materials. The evolution of casting technology is in line with the consensus on reducing resource waste in the era of environmental protection and carbon reduction, and is also the path to ESG for the metal machining industry.

Thanks again to the organizer and co-organizers for arranging this opportunity to conduct casting technology exchanges between Japan and Thailand in Taiwan. We’re expecting to use new forming technology to produce more environmentally friendly components and accelerate energy saving and carbon reduction in metal machining industry.
