World Known Precision Industry (hereinafter WKPT) is committed to the cultivation of talents and takes action to reduce the gap between industry and academia. This time, WKPT participated in the 2023 "Five-axis Machining and Software Practical Application and Smart Manufacturing Industry-Academia Collaboration Project" organized by the Industrial Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The project aims to foster 11 outstanding students across different fields such as IoT, lean management, and carbon footprint analysis. It also provides employment connection mechanisms, achieving a win-win outcome for both industry and academia.

This industry-academia collaboration project involves multiple prestigious universities, including the Department of Information Management at Nanhua University, the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Management, and the Department of Mechanical and Computer-Aided Engineering at National Formosa University, as well as the Department of Industrial Engineering and System Management at Feng Chia University. The curriculum combines the practical aspects of smart machinery and CAD software application, along with dedicated sessions on net-zero carbon emissions and ESG-related topics in line with the global sustainability trend. This approach equips students not only with manufacturing theories and practices but also understanding of sustainable development concepts.

In terms of practical projects, the project advances three key topics in smart manufacturing. First is the practical application of CAD/CAM software, gradually guiding participants with limited experience to build their design and production capabilities. Second, is the lean management improvement in the manufacturing domain, involving hands-on observations and guidance from industry experts to drive systematic and effective enhancement activities. Lastly, there is the practical application of carbon footprint/carbon audit, teaching students how to practically apply this foundational knowledge and contemplate integrating green energy insights into sustainable business practices.

This smart manufacturing industry-academia collaboration project offers students cross-disciplinary learning and practical opportunities while benefiting the academic community through resource sharing. WKPT gains access to academic expertise and a talent pipeline. In the future, WKPT will continue its focus on the metalworking field, contributing more to talent development in precision machining and smart manufacturing through industry-academia collaboration.
